About Volunteering in Bolivia

Each trip to Bolivia takes place with a group of volunteers, usually between 8 to 30. They want to experience the country, meet new people, and make a difference. No skill required. The trips last between 1 to 2 weeks and includes tourism activities in this beautiful and mountainous nation.

Teams of volunteers will work to build houses for low income families, that live in a precarious situation. Families usually consist of three children and two parents; there is also a great number of single-parent families. Some of the families earn their income by growing fruits and vegetables that they sell in markets called “ferias“. Others work as workers in the various industries located in La Paz and El Alto.

Type of Job

We will be building mainly new houses in our Ventilla Project. The houses will be constructed with bricks and will typically be around 750 square feet. The work will greatly involve helping the masons and carpenters. This job involves laying bricks, mixing / transporting cement and mortar, digging the base and helping to build the roof. We will provide the necessary tools, but as with most construction sites, it is helpful to bring some small hand tools with you.

Accommodation:  We have agreements with several hotels. All volunteers will receive a discounted price.

Transport:  A bus transports the group every day.

Costs:  Most seven-day trips will cost between USD 900 to USD 1,000. Two-week trips will between USD 1,200 and USD 1,400. The most precise budgets are personalized and developed for each trip. The cost of the trip includes food, lodging, all transportation in the country, medical and emergency evacuation insurance and a donation to the project.

Rest, Relaxation and Tourism:  Bolivia is a country full of beauty and breathtaking views wich means that here we have a lot of tourism opportunities. In La Paz, where groups stay, are gondolas that rise above the city and offer incredible views. Lake Titicaca is also nearby and is a must see destination. There are also markets and meny interesting things to see around the hotels where the equipment will be housed. We will create cultural and tourism opportunities for you and your group.
